Play my game!

Hello!
I'm coming back to music again in some form or another.

So far I've got two blog titles.

-The Arctic Monkeys are the nearest thing to the Beatles this century.

-Madonna is  the Margaret Thatcher of Pop Music.

I'll spare you those for the time being.

Instead, I'll invite you to a game I play in my head often (my head is not an interesting place).

I imagine I'm being interrogated and having names of bands/artists thrown at me in rapid succession (so I let my brain throw things out as much at random as is possible) and I have to name the one song I'd take on a desert island by each act.

Acts from the full spectrum of popular music, acts you like, acts you hate, you've got to take just one song.

It's not that much fun, but it's a bit of fun, more fun for my brain than my other main activity, which is deciding on the Top 10 English cricketers of the last 25 years ...

I'll get you started

Wham - Edge of Heaven
Britney Spears - Toxic
The Clash - Spanish Bombs
Pulp - Something Changed
Amy Winehouse - Love is a Losing Game
Wet Wet Wet - Goodnight Girl
Frank Sinatra - You Make Me Feel So Young
Dusty Springfield - You Don't Have to Say you Love Me
Slade - Cum On Feel the Noize
Bruce Springsteen - Thunder Road
East 17 - Deep
Joanna Newsom - In California
James - Ring the Bells
All Saints - Pure Shores
Michael Jackson - Billie Jean

etc forever

Simple as that. What fun [NB Black Eyed Peas came into my head, and I couldn't I just couldn't, so I cheated. Don't cheat!]
